Computers Added to Children’s Room

Public Internet computers have been added to the Children’s Room for use by patrons under the age of 12 or for parents accompanying children.

Reserve a Computer

Want to be sure a public Internet computer is available when you have time to visit the library?  Call the library at 269-2010 ext 1 or 2 to reserve a computer.

Technology Tutoring

Technology Tutoring sessions are now available by appointment.  Sessions include 30 minutes of one-on-one tutoring for the topic of your choice.  Topics may include the new catalog, Overdrive, e-readers or tablets, smart phones, Microsoft Word or Excel, etc.  Please make an appointment with Adult Services Librarian, Leah Gentry, @ 608-269-2010 ext 6.

Look for Book Picks from the Teen Advisory Board throughout this week.

Movie:  Gravity is an Academy Award winning movie starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts struggling to survive after their shuttle is destroyed (PG-13, 91 minutes).  There will be two free showings on Monday, April 14:  10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Please bring your own comfy chair if you’d like, otherwise the library will provide one.  Snacks are allowed!

Teen Book vs. Movie Discussion: James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl on Tuesday, April 15, 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Open to those in 6th – 12th grades.

Lego Club, Wednesday, April 16, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Open to children Pre-K through Fifth Grade.  Parents or caregivers must be present with any child under age 7.  Love Legos?  Come and build away.   Legos provided by Friends of the Sparta Free Library.  To register, please call the Children’s Room at 608-269-2010 ext 2.

Wisconsin’s Poet Laureate, Max Garland, visits Sparta.  You have two opportunities to hear Wisconsin’s own poet laureate, Max Garland, read his poems on Thursday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.  Both programs will be held at the Sparta/Barney Family Community Center, Senior Nutrition Site and are sponsored by the Friends of the Sparta Free Library.  Max Poster
